Compound Board Game

Project Introduction
Creating a board game, rather than the usual digital game, was a surprisingly complex process. The focus shifted towards how mechanics effect the amount of fun players have playing a more simple game.
The general design was:
- Players move around the board completing objectives
- Different player archetypes give players a different set of tools
- Alien counters chase players, but can move less squares per turn
- Aliens always move towards the closest player via the shortest path

Game balance also played a large part in translating the survival horror genre onto a game board.
With the final game pitching four players up against randomly spawning enemies in a co-operative survival game.

This project involved a large amount of planning and documentation. One example of the basic game loop for this project is shown below. Also shown below are some player cards, which were included in the box to explain the rules to new players.
