Blackout

Project Introduction
Blackout is a competitively viable map for the RTS game StarCraft 2. The main areas involved in this project were:

Level designed around current game balance

Level Design with the game's three factions in mind (small chokepoints for Protoss. Larger open areas for Zerg)

Variety of mining locations which encourage players to be active on the map

Optimized for competitive play

This level was primarily designed for use in an already established competitive title.
The main focus was around understanding the game and the players.
This led to a lot of playtesting using in-game communities to play matches on the level and provide feedback through an online questionnaire as well as vocally.
Listening to this feedback and using it as a foundation for iterative design led to a well-balanced and competitively viable final product.
